Start Your Own Fund

Individuals and Organizations may wish to focus their charitable efforts and establish a named endowment fund for the benefit of their community.

Funds can be established in your name, or in the name of your family, your organization, or anyone you wish to honour (minimums may apply).

All grants distributed from your fund - today and in the future - are then awarded to charities in the name of your fund. It's a great way to always be involved with, and remembered for, your community investment.

For example, the Glover Family Fund.

SOME GREAT FUND OPTIONS - CHOOSE THE ONE THAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU

We have many options available for planned giving:

You can use your gift to meet ever-changing community needs - including future needs that often cannot be anticipated at the time your gift was made. We evaluate all aspects of community well-being - arts & culture, education, environment, health and social services, youth and more. The flexibility of your unrestricted gift makes it possible to respond to the community's most pressing needs, today and tomorrow.

Our Campbellford/Seymour Community Fund is the main pool used for grants to support all aspects of this community's well-being. You can add to this fund, or create a new fund.

You can target your gift to address needs in an important area of community life. The Arts. Aging. Youth.  You identify your personal interest area when making your gift, and our board awards grants to community groups and programs that are making a difference in the area you select.

For example, the Glover Family Fund targets social service organizations.

Or contribute to one of our established funds that already addresses an important area of community life:

You can direct your gift to a specific charity or issue area. Help provide ongoing funding for a senior centre, museum, your church, or virtually any nonprofit charitable organization. You identify the recipient you wish to benefit through your gift, our staff manages the annual distribution of funds.

For example, the CDHS 100th Anniversary Reunion Fund supports Campbellford District High School.

To assist in choosing a charity to direct funds to, we have created the Supporting Your Community resource.

You can have ongoing involvement in the use of your gift. You work with our staff, identifying ways to use dollars from your Donor Advised Fund to address the issues and needs you care about most. Your recommendations are submitted to our board for approval, we then distribute grant dollars.

You can establish a fund in your name or in memory of a loved one to provide student scholarships that benefit youth in your area of interest. We help you define the scholarship criteria, handle all the administrative details, and award the scholarships to deserving students in the name of your fund.

Here are a few examples:

An agency fund is an attractive option for local charities that currently manage, or are interested in establishing their own endowment fund. An Agency Endowment Fund through your local community foundation makes it easy and efficient to create and manage a permanent endowment for your organization. You build the fund. We take care of the rest.

For example, the Northumberland Land Trust Endowment Fund

geographic-based community fund is a great opportunity for citizens to give back to their local community. Led by community members, donations of all sizes are pooled together into a single fund, called a Smart & Caring Community Fund, that supports charitable causes in your local area for generations.

For example, the Smart & Caring Community Funds for Hastings and Warkworth and the Northumberland County Fund.

If you prefer to give with others who share your interests we have collective giving options through endowment funds that have been created to support Arts & Culture, the Environment, and Children and Youth in Recreation. More information >>
