The Many Ways to Give

Gifts to the Community Foundation of Campbellford/Seymour and Northumberland benefit the entire community. Since 2003 we have been able to invest millions of dollars in community projects. But we couldn’t have done it without you — our community members and partners. The generosity of our donors has contributed to strengthening and building our community bonds.

Why give to a Community Foundation? Here are 10 reasons.

There are so many ways to support your Community Foundation. We recommend that you work with a Professional Advisor to organize your legacy giving.

Here are a few options for making a lasting difference now:

You can choose to make a one time donation, donate monthly, or make a tribute gift through the CanadaHelps secure portal. Click on a tab, and then click on the Donate Now button. You can choose from one our established funds by clicking on the drop-down Fund menu on the donor form.

Make a contribution to help strengthen your community. We have a number of established funds to choose from - you can support the interest that has the most meaning to you, such as the arts, the environment, social programs, education, recreation and more.

Join the Community Foundation as a monthly donor and invest in long-term solutions to benefit your community. Your monthly donation will provide a consistent and reliable source of funding for grants from our established funds. You can support the interest that has the most meaning to you, such as the arts, the environment, social programs, education, recreation and more.

Donate in honour or in memory of a loved one. You can choose to contribute to one of our established funds that supports an interest that had meaning to your loved one.

We have the tools to accept many types of gifts:

donation of securities or mutual fund shares is the most efficient way to give charitably. When you donate the shares directly, you owe no capital gains tax and you are able to donate the full value.

The Glover Family Fund was created through a donation of securities.

Complete our Gift of Securities form, or donate securities through the CanadaHelps secure online portal by clicking on the button below.

You can donate a life insurance policy to the Community Foundation, and pay over a period of time, or in a lump sum. Your premiums are considered a charitable donation and will earn a tax credit.

Making a charitable gift of real estate to a community foundation can help you turn a valuable asset into community good. Charitable gifts of real estate range from personal residences, vacation homes, rental properties, farmland, ecologically sensitive and commercially developed land.

A holder of a Registered Account can designate a charity as a beneficiary of the entire amount of the TFSA/RRSP/RRIF, or alternatively they can include a charity as one of many beneficiaries, specifying the amount or portion of the Registered Account payable to the charity on their passing. Designating a charity as a beneficiary of Registered Accounts can provide a number of tax benefits to the donor’s estate.

Include the CSCF in your Estate Plan

Once you have provided for your family and loved ones, you may want to consider a bequest in your Will to the Community Foundation. This investment in your community will have an impact that lasts beyond your lifetime.

We invite you to complete a Statement of Intent for a Planned Gift. This form provides specific information for the community foundation to help plan for gift expectancies and/or to acknowledge a donor during their lifetime.

Choose to leave a Lasting Legacy:

Establish a fund in your name, or in the name of your family, your organization, or anyone you wish to honour. All grants distributed from your fund - today and in the future - are then awarded to charities in the name of your fund. It's a great way to always be involved with, and remembered for, your community investment.

For example, the CDHS 100th Anniversary Reunion Fund was created in 2023 by the 1970 Grade 12 Graduating Class, as part of the 100th anniversary of Campbellford District High School. This fund will finance organizations and initiatives that support Campbellford District High School and its students in the future.

If you prefer to give with others who share your interests we have collective giving options through our established endowment funds. Your gift is pooled in an existing fund, and will help it grow and generate even more income over time, enabling more grants to be given now and forever.

A business may find it advantageous to use the Community Foundation of Campbellford/Seymour and Northumberland as a vehicle for its community giving.
