Peer Leadership Awards

The Community Foundation has been presenting Leadership Certificates to Trent Hills students from Grade 1 to Grade 11 since 2008.

We are extremely pleased each year to see how many students are recognized by their fellow students for their outstanding leadership qualities. It is quite impressive to read the nomination forms, and we commend the teachers and parents for providing such great direction and guidance in our local schools. It is really evident, in both the thoughtfulness of the nominations and in the recognized acts of the nominees.

The students nominated have a track record of excellence in their contribution to leadership in their school.  Nominations are judged on the significance of the contribution, the lasting benefits, the overall impact on the school community and any local recognition that may have been brought to the school.  This is not limited to students in a recognized school position, such as student council or parent council representative, but to all students in the school.

Leadership examples:

  • Demonstrates vision, foresight and persistence
  • Considers others
  • Thinks of and shares ideas
  • Brings people together
  • Is well organized and reliable

Students are presented with a Peer Leadership Certificate, and on the back of the certificate we print the reasons they were nominated by their peers, in the nominees own words. We hope this positive peer recognition and affirmation connects students current actions with future efforts.
