Youth Advisory Council

The Campbellford/Seymour Youth Advisory Council (YAC) was formed in 2003. The YAC was created in an attempt to bring youthful energy and ideas to the Campbellford/ Seymour community. In turn, the YAC provides local youth with a voice and a forum.

  • The YAC acts as a catalyst to ensure all youth interests are represented.
  • The YAC focuses on bringing youthful energy and ideas to the community of Campbellford/Seymour.
  • The YAC provides mentorship and facilitates leadership opportunities for the youth in our community.

The impact of the YAC is far-reaching:

  • Through engagement with community foundations, youth develop leadership skills, learn about community, community foundations and philanthropy.
  • The community foundation and the community-at-large benefit from their involvement with youth, both now and in the future, as they invest in building the interest and capacity for youth participation in philanthropy and civil society.

Youth Advisory Council (YAC)

The YAC operate as a Campbellford District High School youth committee and a new council is formed at the beginning of each school year. With the support of an adult advisor from the Community Foundation Board, and a teacher advisor from the High School, YAC`s initiate youth driven ideas and serve as active resources and leaders in their school and their community.

On June 30, 2005 the Youth Advisory Council, in partnership with Westben and CDHS Jazz Ensemble, launched its new logo. The logo was designed by Kayla Vieth, a local youth and member of YAC who won a design contest.
